Granulation is a fascinating and distinctive feature of watercolour painting, where sedimentary pigments create textured, grainy, spotty, and mottled effects. These natural characteristics can be further emphasized by guiding the pigments’ flow using gravity, allowing the particles to move and form random rivulets and clusters.
In this workshop, we will explore the enchanting effects of granulating pigments, learning to control their behaviour at a local level. You’ll discover a variety of versatile mark making techniques that will inspire new creative possibilities, taking you on a fun and exploratory artistic journey that adds excitement, character, and depth to your watercolour paintings.
The session will include "show and tell" materials, with a step-by-step approach that will guide participants to complete a painting on the day.
This workshop is suitable for artists of all levels, from beginners to those with more experience.
