LAUREEN KNIGHT
2026
Laureen Knight is a part-time Melbourne based artist, who began drawing and painting as a child. As a retired school teacher she also has the opportunity to teach and encourage art with children and adults alike.
Creative opportunities arose over the years, which extended her skills to painting murals, theatre backdrops, calligraphy and acrylic painting. She mainly focuses on watercolour and acrylic on canvas, along with developing pastel work.
Laureen's initiation into acrylic painting began at University, under the guidance of Colin Johnson. However, most of her tuitition has developed through workshops with top watercolour teachers and a Master Pastellist in Qld.
She has been greatly influenced by many of Australia's early artists, as well as watercolour artists at the 'Twenty Melbourne Painters Society'. She delights in the challenge of dynamic skies, wondrous seas, Australian beauty in landscapes, native flowers and birds. Her style leans towards realism and impressionism, with occasional contemporary play. Laureen delights in capturing wave actions with her camera, while exploring the east coast of Australia. This is reflected in her many renditons of seascapes and lighthouses over many years.
Laureen continues to display art online, as well as in exhibitions, regularly selling as the right person sees the right painting for them. She has had several solo exhibitions, with most artwork sold over the last 20 years in Australian eastern States, via Facebook, Instagram, Gallery 247, exhibitions, and friends. |
