EMERGING WATERCOLOUR ARTIST
30 years a Registered Nurse - I had never painted before in my life, however, an accident in 2019 brought much change to my life! This accident tested all of my reserves as I was unable to walk on my right leg for 10 weeks. Not a great situation for someone who likes to keep busy!! I had always admired people who could sketch and paint and thought that it would be a great thing to try during my recovery. I watched so many You tube videos and decided to give watercolour a try. I bought a cheap watercolour pad and a packet of watercolour paints and a few cheap brushes. My first few paintings weren't too crash hot but my family loved them and totally encouraged me to keep going. I haven't put my pain brush down since. I paint every day!!! I am totally hooked and have found a deeper appreciation for Australian landscapes and its vast Flora and Fauna. I also have a great interest in painting strong, resilient women of the world, depicting tribal customs of dress. I have recently been commissioned to do some paintings for people who have seen my work. I find painting a great diversion from my work as a nurse and am excited by the challenges before me in entering art competitions such as this. |
